About Event Lives

Event professionals are creative, artistic, passionate, and exciting people, shining the brightest of lights on the planet. Daily, we create amazing events that bring joy to people and give them wonderful memories and for the most part we love our jobs.

Yet, this career ranks fifth on “The 10 Most Stressful Jobs of 2017” list compiled by CareerCast and quoted in Forbes Magazine. This position falls just after enlisted military, firefighters, airline pilots, and police officers. Given this statistic, it is understandable that wide-eyed creatives coming into the profession have a challenging time with life/work integration and job satisfaction.

My husband Mark Wells and I are privileged to have been part of the special events industry for more than twenty years. We owned two companies together in the profession, and currently, Mark is the executive vice president of creative services for the largest destination management company in the country, operating in nine different markets.

We have crafted a lifestyle that includes many wonderful opportunities to travel, meet extraordinary people, and attend incredible events. Our family life is rich and fulfilling, and we flourish despite the stress and demanding time commitments required.

When I attended the Special Events Trade Conference in Orlando in 2016, many attendees asked me, “How do you do it? How do you have a family, stay married, and thrive in both life and business in this crazy career?”

Those frequent questions convinced me that I was in a special position to offer an insider’s perspective and provide guidance to professionals who desire a career in special events.

Thus, Event Lives was born

Event Lives offers lifestyle tips and guidance to creative individuals in the special events community who seek fulfillment in their personal and professional lives.

In Stories, we share our experiences and adventures as we matured in the career and also talk to veteran event pros who reveal their successes, challenges, tips, and passions.
